Gortacloona: Standing Stone CO118-051

SW from Gortacloona Standing Stone, Cork, Ireland. Gortacloona Standing Stone is 3km or so south of Bantry and roughly 700m due west of Keilnascarta Stone Row. It has fallen, measures 2.6 x 1.1 x 0.5m, and has two visible cup-marks.

To the south-west Mt Corrin is prominent on the horizon and, on its summit, Cairn CO130-015 accurately marks the most southerly moonset position. This begins a useful run of hills to the west, where Knocknamaddree marks the half-month off the winter solstice.

To the south-east Cairn CO131-048 marks a lunar sixteenth.
