Ballymacrown Standing Stone is on coastal hilltop. It is currently unsurveyed but is possibly used as a lunar marker from two sites:
- Bawngare boulder-burial is 5.5km away to the north-west and most likely to be an original backsight as the slab is perpendicular to this sightline. From there this stone marks the major standstill.
- Barnabah Standing Stone pair is 2.0km to the north-east and from there this stone is a sixteenth away from the major standstill.
